take/leave

My 48-hour subway short.
For the dutch christmas 2008 edition of the 48-hour film festival I submitted a DV-rebel entry. I had to make a movie from script to final edit within 48 hours that contained the following:
genre: Detective / copmovie
Character: Maaike Groothart, VIP
Object: snow
Sentence: 'If you leave can I have your chair?'
And a general christmas-feel.

I shot this with help of 3 friends in a few subway stations without any permit. We were sent off 4 or 5 times by security but managed to finish our shots in time. It was shot entirely on an HV20 wihtout any additional lighting and edited/color corrected on FCP. Another friend composed and played the music for it and 4 guys helped with some visual effects, some visible, others unvisible. Finally a guy from the U.S. that I knew (long live the internet) agreed to do a detective style voice over and so we managed to deliver the film within 48 hours and very little sleep.

The Brave New Globe

Hotdamn!
Shine on, you little bastard son!
Blow them saddles, torch them waffles!
I say Yee Hay, my friend.

My oh my

Clark and Nordlander just refounded their infamous collaboration of science and vision. Art and technology will therefore lead us into the brave new world of Visual Effects.
